Leverage & liquidation buffer calculator
Calculate estimated liquidation price, maintenance margin requirement, and buffer distance across isolated leverage brackets.
Estimated liquidation price and buffer
Calculate isolated liquidation threshold and safe buffer distance to stop.
Estimated isolated liquidation mark and buffer before maintenance threshold
Long P_liq ≈ Entry × (1 − 1/Leverage) ÷ (1 − MMR)
Short P_liq ≈ Entry × (1 + 1/Leverage) ÷ (1 + MMR)
This calculator models isolated margin. In cross margin or portfolio margin, additional wallet collateral shifts the liquidation price. Stop gaps, liquidation clearance fees, and tiered bracket escalations are not included. Hyperliquid liquidation price
Choose a Hyperliquid preset to fill the maintenance margin rate. Hyperliquid sets maintenance margin to half the initial margin at an asset's maximum leverage, so MMR = 1 ÷ (2 × max leverage): 1.25% for a 40x asset such as BTC, 5% for a 10x asset such as HYPE. With the preset, leverage above the asset's maximum is rejected. The isolated formula above matches Hyperliquid's documented liquidation price at the moment a position opens, before fees and funding. In cross margin, Hyperliquid's liquidation price depends on your account value rather than the leverage you set, so this estimate does not apply. Very large positions move into higher margin tiers (for BTC, above $150M notional), which this calculator does not model. Maximum leverage per asset changes; check it on the trade form.
