Disproof Desk

Challenge an assumption that may be carrying a historical result.

Before you begin: Requires a result and its exact rules/sample. A same-sample challenge is sensitivity analysis.

⁦How to use it⁩

  1. Open the chosen run in Workbench and inspect its assumptions.
  2. Find the Disproof or sensitivity controls for that result.
  3. Deliberately change one supported assumption, such as costs, and run the challenge.
  4. Compare baseline and challenge on matching lineage; record the weakened claim.

⁦Worked example and expected outcome⁩

Teaching case: increasing modeled costs removes the baseline’s positive result.

⁦Check your understanding⁩

Did only the intended assumption change, and was the sample held fixed?

⁦If it does not work⁩

If a result is missing or stale, create a matching baseline first; do not compare unrelated runs.
