Account security and recovery

Understand sign-in, password changes, recovery codes and the consequences of deleting a hosted account.

Before you begin: Recovery codes are one-time secrets shown only when generated. Changing a password revokes other signed-in sessions. Account deletion removes hosted account data; local workspace data stays in this browser.

⁦How to use it⁩

  1. Open Account & privacy and locate Account security and Account recovery; first check whether password-reset email is available.
  2. While signed in, generate recovery codes with your current password and save them in a private password manager. Replacing the set invalidates earlier codes.
  3. If you change your password, use a unique password and expect other signed-in sessions to be revoked; sign in again on devices you still use.
  4. Before considering hosted account deletion, read the displayed consequences and confirm that you understand local workspace data remains on this browser; deletion is a separate, explicit action.

⁦Worked example and expected outcome⁩

⁦Check your understanding⁩

If you replace the recovery-code set, can an older code still work, and what happens to your other sessions after a password change?

⁦If it does not work⁩

If you are signed out and neither the configured reset email nor a saved recovery code is available, self-service recovery may be unavailable. Do not guess credentials or share passwords or codes in chat.
